Jordan's courts conducted 12,300 remote trials last September: Justice Ministry

Amman, Oct. 8 (Petra) - The Ministry of Justice released on Thursday its official statistics for last September, showcasing "significant" milestones in digital transformation and judicial efficiency.

During the month, Jordan's courts conducted 12,300 remote trial sessions and archived roughly 3.7 million judicial documents.

Meanwhile, the ministry's figures showed the notary public services completed 28,400 total transactions, including 10,600 handled remotely.

Additionally, officials completed 8,988 remote notary video consultations and issued 1,639 electronic legal notices without requiring in-person visits.

The ministry issued over 55,000 clean-record certificates, 52,000 in Arabic and 3,250 in English.

Alternative penalties saw "steady" adoption, as authorities implemented 213 alternative sentences to imprisonment, while electronic monitoring bracelets were applied in two pre-trial detention cases and 28 sentencing cases, according to ministry data.

E-services also experienced "strong" demand, recording 704 online auction transactions, 373 legal aid requests, and four formal requests under the Right to Information law.
